CROWNTAILS

Crowntails are a type of “fringe-finned” domestic betta having fin rays that extend significantly beyond the webbed portion of the fins. The supporting webbing around the fin rays is reduced and the rays protrude past the edges of the fin membrane. The result is a scalloped appearance or the appearance of hyper-extended rays as seen in Crowntails where the webbing is substantially reduced.Cross Ray – In the schematic, this is manifested by pairs of primary rays which curve over each other.

HALFMOON PLAKAD

HALFMOON PLAKAD is the most common of the plakad forms bred today. The dorsal fin should be semi-circular and preferably snap open as a fan. The capacity of the fin to open in this fashion is often achieved not by in increase in volume, but by an increase in fin ray branching. the caudal fin is the same as the standard show Betta, except no longer than 1/3 length of body. Straight edges, 4 tip or greater branching and a perfect 180° semi-circle shaped tail is desired.

HALFMOONS

Halfmoon (HM) is the term given to bettas that have a perfect semi-circle caudal (i.e. tail)when flaring. Specifically, a halfmoon betta must have a caudal where both ends are exactly 180 degrees apart or more, spreading towards the front. Caudal edges have to be straight or curving outwards, and not bending inwards.
